The brand new Branson Airport opened in May of 2009 and is expected to significantly increase the number of group and individual leisure travelers that will be able to enjoy the wonderful Branson experience. The airport is located within the Branson Creek development, approximately ten miles south of downtown Branson. Access to the airport is by way of Branson Creek Boulevard and its connection to U.S. Highway 65.
The Branson airport is able to accommodate all types of commercial aircraft ranging from regional jets to Boeing 757’s. Currently, Branson Airport offers non-stop air service to Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Des Moines, Chicago, Houston, Milwaukee, Orlando, on AirTran, Branson AirExpress and Frontier Airlines. Enterprise car rental and Alamo are the official car rental providers and the only on-site companies for Branson Airport. Their offices are open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The terminal facility is 58,000 square feet with additional check-in counters at the airport’s car rental drop-off station.
The new airport is designed to comfortably handle and process 700,000 deplaning passengers per year. As demand increases, it is designed to expand to eventually handle up to 1,000,000 deplaning passengers per year. The Airport also provides GA and FBO services, including fueling, catering, hangar facilities and aircraft wash service. The airfield consists of a single 7,140-ft.-long by 150-ft.-wide runway, a partial parallel taxiway, and an FAA air traffic control tower.
The Branson Airport is the first privately financed and operated commercial airport in the United States. It is also the first non-replacement commercial service airport built in the United States in the last 40 years.
Airport officials continue discussions with a number of leading low-cost airlines and announcements will be made as soon as partnerships are finalized.
